Pain/tightness in the tendon that connects your calf to the back of your heel or in the back of the heel itself. There are many reasons why this can happen, often foot position, ill fitting footwear, calf tightness and weak tendons. Please do no stretch the calves until seen by a health professional as this will put more tension on the tendon and often can worsen your symptoms.
Pain/stiffness in the ankle point. Pain on the inside, outside, front or back of the ankle joint. This can be caused by wearing the wrong shoes, weakness in the ankle and/or foot position loading the soft tissues around the ankle. This can be resolved by footwear changed, home exercises and if required orthotics.
Often presents as stiffness and pain. Osteoarthritic joints can be in the big toe, the middle of the foot or in the ankle or knee. Depending on the stage of osteoarthritis we can either improve the range of movement to reduce symptoms, or if later stage osteoarthritis we will reduce the range of motion to reduce symptoms. We do the above through orthotics and footwear. Gemma can assess your condition and suggest the appropriate treatment plan at your appointment.
Pain at the front of the knee often with jumping or running and/or pain after rest. Research shows that a large % of patients with Patella Femoral Pain Syndrome have flat feet which is a contributing factor to their condition. This is often a multi-facetted condition and strength training of the knee complex itself and hip stabilisation (glute) strengthening is often advised.
If your back pain comes on from standing and/or walking this gives us clinical reasoning to believe your feet may be a contributing factor to your pain
